Obu~♡ (the “Bot”) tracks the time members spend in Discord voice channels to provide statistics and leaderboards. This policy explains what data the Bot collects, how it is used and stored, and the choices you have.
1 ⋆ Information We Collect
- Discord User ID — to attribute voice activity to your account.
- Discord Server (Guild) ID — to associate data with the server it belongs to.
- Voice session timestamps — the times you join and leave voice channels, and your aggregated total time.
- Server configuration — settings chosen by a server’s administrators, such as leaderboard configuration, mute-tracking preference, and blacklist entries (user or role IDs excluded from tracking).
2 ⋆ Information We Do NOT Collect
- Message content. The Bot uses prefix commands (e.g.
o!stats). It reads message text only momentarily to detect its command prefix and parse command arguments, then discards it. Command text is never stored. - The content of voice conversations or any audio.
- Direct messages or message history.
- Your nickname or avatar — these are fetched live from Discord when displaying leaderboards/stats and are not stored.
3 ⋆ How We Use Information
- To calculate the time you spend in voice channels.
- To generate per-user statistics and server leaderboards.
- To assign an optional “Top 10” role configured by server administrators.
4 ⋆ Storage and Retention
- Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on a private server operated by the Bot’s developer (i.e., outside of Discord).
- Automated database backups are created periodically and retained for a limited time (approximately 7 days) before deletion.
- Data is retained while the Bot provides its service to your server. You may request deletion at any time (see “Your Choices & Rights”).
5 ⋆ Data Sharing
We do not sell your data and do not share it with third parties. Data is used solely to operate the Bot’s features.
6 ⋆ Your Choices & Rights
- Server administrators can exclude any user or role from tracking using the blacklist commands, and can reset a user’s tracked time.
- You, or a server owner, may request access to or deletion of your data by emailing [email protected]. Please include the relevant Discord User ID and/or Server ID so we can locate the data.
7 ⋆ AI / Machine Learning
Your data — including any message content read in order to parse commands — is not used to train any AI or machine-learning models.
8 ⋆ Children's Privacy
The Bot is intended for use in accordance with Discord’s Terms of Service. You must meet Discord’s minimum age requirement to use Discord and the Bot.
9 ⋆ Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
